Chhattisgarh, March 29:
There was an encounter between security personnel and Naxalites in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Saturday morning. So far 17 Naxalites have been killed in the encounter. A large quantity of weapons including INSAS and SLR have been recovered. The number of Naxalites killed may increase. So far 410 Naxalites have been killed within a year.
After the killing of 17 Naxalites, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that those who have weapons and those who resort to violence cannot bring change, only peace and development can bring. He wrote a post on Instagram saying that another blow to Naxalism! Our security agencies killed 17 Naxalites in an operation in Sukma and recovered a large cache of automatic weapons. The Home Minister said that the government under the leadership of the Prime Minister is committed to end Naxalism before March 31, 2026. My appeal to those who have weapons is that weapons and violence cannot bring change, only peace and development can bring.
Bastar IG Sundarraj P while giving an update said that the bodies of 17 Naxalites have been recovered. Two soldiers have suffered minor injuries. It is reported that DVCM Jagdish has been killed in this encounter.
Meanwhile, Sukma SP Kiran Gangaram Chavan said that we have recovered the bodies of 17 Naxalites so far. A large number of AK-47, SLR, INSAS rifles and other weapons and ammunition have also been recovered. Two soldiers have suffered minor injuries. (Agencies)
