Srinagar, April 4:
Due to the western disturbance, the weather deteriorated from Friday afternoon. Several plains, including Srinagar, received rain and snowfall in the upper hilly areas. The rain that started in Srinagar in the afternoon continued till evening.
The administration has issued advisories and helplines on the possibility of heavy rains, strong winds and landslides.
According to the Meteorological Department, there may be thunderstorms, hailstorms and strong winds on April 4.
Moderate to heavy rain, snowfall (in higher areas) and very heavy rain may occur at some places in Kashmir and Jammu division.
On April 5-7, it will be partly cloudy. On April 8-9, there may be new spells of light rain, snowfall at some places.
Isolated heavy rainfall may cause flash floods, landslides, stone fall at some sensitive places and waterlogging in some low-lying areas. Light rain/snowfall (in higher areas) may occur at a few places on 10-11 April. Weather will be generally dry on 12-15 April.
Flash floods and landslides may occur at some sensitive places due to brief spell of very heavy rainfall at a few places during
3rd & 4th April and 7-8th April. There may be waterlogging in some low lying areas. Farmers are advised to stop all farming activities. Travellers are advised to plan their journey accordingly.
