The residents of Bathipora Naidkhai village area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district held a protest against water scarcity in their village blocked Sumbal-Sopore road on Saturday morning.
Scores of residents, including women, gathered near the Irrigation pump station Bathipora, leading to the blockage of the Sumbal-Sopore road.This disruption in traffic persisted for hours as they aimed to draw attention to their water-related grievances.
Protesters voiced their concerns, stating that they have been grappling with a water shortage for the past ten days.
They made authorities responsible for water scarcity in the area and alleged that they are struggling to get drinking water in life.
Speaking with the reporters, a women Protester said that from the last 10 days the villagers have been forced to fetch dirty water from nearby streams.
She also said that the authorities and employees of the jal shakti department are giving us damn excuses of unscheduled power cuts which affect our daily livelihood.
After officials intervention and assurance the protest had been called off peacefully, hopeful that their concerns would be addressed promptly.
