Srinagar, Dec 16 : Bharatiya Janata Party’s General Secretary and Kashmir affairs Incharge, Vibodh Gupta on Wednesday urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to renovate the temples in Kashmir to keep the culture Jammu and Kashmir alive.
Gupta visited a Shuryar shiv temple today & performed the puja with locals in temple at Indira Nagar where the Kashmiri Pandit community informed him that the way leading to the temple has been encroached. Vibodh further contacted the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, who rushed to the spot along with the team of officials, a BJP Media In-charge Kashmir Manzoor Bhat told, adding that the DC later directed the concerned officials to investigate the matter.
“Kashmiriyat is famous across the globe and J&K is heading towards Kashmiriyat again. A committee must be formed to identify the temples which need to be renovated to keep the Kashmir culture alive, After abrogation of Article 370 things changed to normalcy ,” Gupta said.
Gupta claimed that a large section of people especially Hindu Pandits were being subjected to injustices and autocracies in the past. He said that initiating a plan to reopen and rebuilding the temples will be a welcome step and this will restore their faith in democracy. He further said due to the Article 370 and 35A previous regimes did not allow various welfare schemes meant for the rest of India to be implemented in the state adding that this is the right time to reverse all the injustice happened with the people in the past.
Vibodh strongly asserted that center’s “Naya” Kashmir blueprint comprises renovation and rebuilding of temples destroyed and desecrated by terrorists.
Gupta, who was accompanied by BJYM General Secretary Bilal Parray and Kashmiri Pandit leader Veena Pandita, later appealed the Lieutenant Governor to constitute a committee to identify the temples, which need to be renovated.
