Two ten days Karyashalas on “Climate Smart Agriculture: Sustainable Crop Production Strategies” and “Climate Resilient Crop Production System through Field Level Weather Modification Technologies” concluded at Faculty of Agriculture, Wadura, Sopore, SKUAST-Kashmir. These workshops were started on July 26, 2022. Twenty five students from various Divisions of Faculty of Agriculture, SKUAST-Kashmir and other state Agriculture universities participated in each Karyashala. During the technical sessions 25 lectures at Faculty of Agriculture, Wadura and field exposure visits to IMD, Srinagar & SKUAST-Kashmir, Main-Campus Shalimar were organized to give full acquaintance about the meteorological equipments, Automatic Weather Station and methodology of metrological observations.
During the valedictory ceremony of these High End Workshops (Karyashalas), Prof. Raihana Habib Kanth, Dean Faculty of Agriculture addressed the audience and emphasized on climate change and climate variability and its’ impact on agriculture and allied enterprises. Mr. Gurmeet Singh Distt. SMS Baramullah and Mr. Harvender Pal Singh SMS SDL, Baramullah graced the occasion as Guests of Honour. Moreover exchange of ideas about climate smart agriculture and climate resilient crop production strategies took place between the resource persons and trainees. Compendiums of both the workshops were released in the valedictory function of workshop. Dr. Amal Saxena, Prof and Head, Agronomy proposed the welcome address and the Karyashala Report was presented by Dr. Lal Singh Course Director. During the event, all the participants of both the Karyashalas were awarded with “Successful participation certificates” and the organizers were also appreciated by the Chief Guest for their valuable contribution for smooth conduct of two ten days Karyashalas. At the end, vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Khursheed Ahmad Dar, Prof. Agronomy.
