Traders and local residents protested against the Vaishno Devi ropeway project

Jammu, December 18:

Shops in Katra remained closed on Wednesday against the proposed Rs 250 crore ropeway. The project to facilitate travel from the tarmac route to Sanji Chhat, which leads to the cave shrine in Reasi district.

The Mata Vaishno Devi Sangharsh Samiti protested against the project. And demanded that it be scrapped. The committee alleges that the ropeway project will destroy the livelihood of local traders.

Bhupinder Singh Jamwal, president of the Sangharsh Samiti, told that we are fighting to protect our rights as the board is hell-bent on snatching the livelihood of more than 60,000 families.
