Now the hassle of making unnecessary rounds to find parking in cities will be reduced. On the mobile app, you will already be able to see which parking lot has a vacant space.
If the vehicle is parked in the wrong place, a clamp (lock) will be installed on the wheel. The vehicle violating the rules will be lifted with the help of a crane or tow-truck.
Under the Jammu and Kashmir Parking Rules-2026 issued by the Housing and Urban Development Department, a uniform parking system has been implemented for all urban bodies. It is for the first time in the state.
Till now, parking in cities was operated by local bodies. After the implementation of the new rules, there will be a uniform system in all the bodies. For this, a Central Parking Management System (CPMS) will be developed. Through this, people will be able to see on the mobile app and website where parking is vacant and how much is the fee.
In the new parking system, at least 10 percent of the space will be reserved for charging electric vehicles. Separate parking arrangements for the disabled will be mandatory.
