Jammu, March 29:
So far two terrorists have been killed in the ongoing encounter with terrorists in Sufan. While four soldiers of JKP Police have been martyred. The operation of the security forces to find and kill the group of terrorists continued for the second day on Friday. In the morning, a fierce firing with the terrorists started in Ambe Naal of Sufan, adjacent to Ujj river, which continued intermittently throughout the day.
There is a possibility of more terrorists hiding in the area. In such a situation, the siege continues. In view of the possibility of more terrorists being in the area, the security forces are searching every inch of the forest.
On Friday, the security forces started searching for the terrorists. At around seven in the morning, there was heavy firing from both sides. After this, the firing stopped for some time, but the sound of bullets kept coming intermittently from the forest till late evening.
It took 30 hours for the security forces to retrieve the bodies of the three senior grade head constables, who were martyred on Thursday due to the firing. After this, the bodies of the martyred soldiers were brought to GMC Kathua’s post mortem house. All three were posted with DSP Border Dheeraj Katoch. The DSP was also injured in the encounter.
The body of missing Sufan post in-charge Head Constable Jagbir Singh was seen near the encounter site. His body was taken to GMC Kathua late in the evening.
DGP Nalin Prabhat also reached Kathua to pay last salute to the three martyred soldiers. Late in the evening, the process of bringing more bodies from the encounter site to GMC was started.
Para commandos have been carrying out the operation by surrounding the terrorists since Thursday night.
