The Shivlinga which was taken from the Bodh Mandir in the Kralyar area of Rainawari and thrown into the river was installed in the Jogeshwari temple. The Shivlinga installed on Wednesday after a long legal battle of ten years. It was an emotional and historic moment for every person of the Kashmiri Pandit community present on the occasion. BL Jalali, president of the Jogeshwari Temple Trust, which comes under the Rainawari Kashmiri Pandit Action Committee (RKPAC), called it a victory of faith.
BL Jalali said that in 1990, during the initial phase of terrorism, the terrorists took out this Shivling from the temple and threw it in the river.
The Shivling was handed over to us on Monday. The committee installed the Shivling in the Jogeshwari temple located a short distance from the Bodh Mandir on Wednesday. A large number of Kashmiri Pandits were present during this time. Jalali said that this is not just the return of a Shivling, but the homecoming of the culture and faith of the entire community. Another Kashmiri Pandit said that this Shivling is a symbol of the ancient Shaiv tradition of Kashmir.
Muslim elders also became emotional. Elderly Muslim Ali Mohammad Magre said that I am 92 years old. Where we are living, there is a temple, mosque and Gurudwara.
