Security forces today claimed to have eliminated three terrorists in an encounter that took place in Nowgam area in the early hours of Wednesday . These terrorists were also involved in the murder of Sarpanch Sameer Dar.
Police said on getting the inputs regarding the terrorists, security forces at once reached the spot and surrounded the whole locality. Seeing security forces came closer, hiding terrorists opened fire, but they were given several opportunities to surrender but they did not agree to lay down their arms. In the retaliatory action of the security forces, all the three terrorists were killed.
Police said that these terrorists were hiding in a house in Nowgam on the outskirts of Srinagar. Due to the ongoing encounter, the railway management had suspended the train service running between Banihal-Baramulla for the time being as a precaution . This railway track is very close to the encounter site.
Security forces say that these terrorists are hiding in a residential area in Nowgam. Keeping in mind the safety of the people, the campaign is going on. Soon this encounter will be ended.
