Abid Rashid, an IT engineer from Srinagar, has come up with a revolutionary solution to solve the problems caused by changing the position of the moon in determining the dates of the Islamic calendar.
Abid has developed a mobile application (app) that automatically updates its dates every month with the sighting of the moon.
Abid claims that this is the first app in the world that dynamically changes the dates of the Hijri calendar. It is without having to update them manually.
This app, created about two months ago, was available in 11 languages.
Two more languages, German and Turkish, have been added on Monday. With this, the number has gone up to 13. Growing up and educated in Khanyar in downtown Srinagar, Abid studied IT engineering and then MBA from Delhi.
Hijri calendars come in print. The app also has their fixed format. The Hijri month is of 29 or 30 days and it is decided according to the moon.
Many times it happens that in the printed calendar, the month is 30 and the moon is 29, or the printed is 29 and the moon is 30.
In such a situation, all the further dates of the app or fixed calendar become incorrect. The Panchang provides for additional days or Kharmas for this. The Hijri calendar is predictable. That was the problem that led to the creation of it.
Before this, there is no such app available.
There is a state of uncertainty among the common people about the Hijri dates.
The new generation is more dependent on phones. So the idea of creating an app that removes all these problems came up.
