Jammu, March 1:
Life in Jammu and Kashmir is affected due to rain and snowfall. Rail, air and road services are affected due to bad weather. At the same time, many areas of Doda and Anantnag are seen covered with a white sheet of snow.
Doda district has turned into a picturesque scene after fresh snowfall in the upper reaches of the district last night.
According to the Meteorological Center Srinagar, there is a possibility of heavy rain and snowfall again on March 3. The weather will continue to fluctuate in the coming days. There have been incidents of stone pelting, landslides and mudslides at many places on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
Kishtwar Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Shawan said, “Due to snowfall in the last 2 days, roads have been damaged at some places. Repair work is going on. We have inspected all the areas and repair work is going on. There is a full stock of ration, people will be given ration for the month of March.”
SDRF, police and local people rescued 11 people trapped in the flood of Ujj River. The construction of Delhi-Katra Expressway is going on here. The water level suddenly rose around 2 o’clock on Thursday night. Amid heavy rains, a bus went out of control and overturned on the road near Rakhmutthi village of Jyodiyan, injuring two people. Jammu Police and SDRF rescued dumper driver Mohan Lal who was trapped in the flood in Nikki Tawi.
In view of the bad weather, the exams for class 10th, 11th and 12th scheduled for March 1 and 3 in hard zone areas of Jammu and Kashmir have been postponed. Now these exams will be held on March 24 and 25.
