Jammu, October 6:
Shri Kailakh Jyotish Avim Vedic Sansthan Trust President Mahant Rohit Shastri said that the Sharad Purnima is celebrated on the full moon day “Poornima “in the Ashwin month of the Hindu calendar, the Sharad Purnima is also known as Kojagiri Purnima, Kaumadi Purnima, Kumara Purnima and Navanna Purnima in several parts of the country and this year it is going to be celebrated on October 9th, 2022.
Moon shines with all sixteen Kala(s) on Sharad Purnima. The Moon remains closest to earth on this day. Its rays possess nourishing elements and healing properties that nourish our body and soul. It drips nectar as devotees keep ‘Kheer’ in the moonlight for the entire night. The Prasad is then distributed amongst the family members and relatives on the next morning.
According to Dharam granth’s, on this night, the goddess Lakshmi herself takes rounds of Earth to check the actions of human beings and that is why this fast is kept for an entire day where devotees only consume fluids. Sharad Purnima is also called as Raas Purnima, when Lord Krishna performed the dance of divine love Maha-Raas.
Owing to the pandemic of covid-19 we should celebrated this festival by staying at our homes.
