Srinagar, April 9:
Security forces averted a major tragedy by detecting and defusing an 8-kg IED in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday. Officials said during a routine patrol in the Hafruda forest area of Handwara in the district, security forces found a suspicious object on the side of the road.
He said that on closer inspection it was found that the object was an IED. The officer said that the area was cordoned off and the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was called to the spot. Later the BDS destroyed the IED.
