Today delegation of Sanskrit scholar’s met Prof. J. P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-J&K. On this occasion Mahant Rohit Shastri and other’s has also presented Shreemad Bhagvat Geeta to the esteemed vice chancellor on behalf of the all sanskrit scholars .On this Mahant Rohit shastri further revealed that Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu Kashmir running its administration on the directions of Vice Chancellor Prof.JP Sharma and is providing quality education and it is one of the pioneer universities of the world and this university is attaining the heights of achievements day by day ,the entire administration and more particularly Vice Chancellor (SKUAST) really deserve appreciation. Shastri also said to the students that the students should prefer to serve their society and nation after attaining the education from this esteemed institution.
In a statement issued to mercury times, Prof. J.P. Sharma said that in the ancient times, Jyotish emerged with the purpose of calculating time. In previous era, people used to calculate time to predict arrival of rain. The root of the Hindi word ‘Varsha’ (rain) is ‘Varsh’ (year). At that time the calculation of time was based mainly on the sun and the moon. On the basis of their movements, day-night, fortnight, month, season, ayan, and the year were calculated. Jyotish was also used to calculated the auspicious time for performing yajnas etc. If we want to know all such things then we must have to learn sanskrit.
On occasion Professor (Dr.) M.C. Sharma,Former Director and Vice-Chancellor,ICAR- Indian Veterinary Research Institute and Deemed University, Izatnagar,Rajeshwar Shastri, Ashok Shastri, Pandit Dev Dutt Shastri, Ajay Bharti,Vijay Shastri were also present.
