Rusty mortar shell found in border village of Bishnah, defused by controlled explosion

A rusty mortar shell was found in a border village in Bishnah area of Jammu on Wednesday. It caused a stir in the area for some time. As soon as the information was received, security agencies reached the spot. They have defused the shell safely.
According to officials, during the construction work of a house in Kothe Sania village. The workers were pouring soil to fill the foundation.

They saw a suspected explosive device buried in the soil. On examination, it turned out to be an old and rusty mortar shell.
After receiving the information, the Bomb Disposal Squad was sent to the spot. The team took the shell to an open field away from the village and defused it through a controlled explosion, following safety standards. No one was injured in the operation, the officials said. Security was tightened in the area following the incident and people were urged to remain vigilant.
