Rajya Sabha member Amar Singh died on Saturday. He was admitted to a hospital in Singapore for some time. His kidney was transplanted. Amar Singh, a stalwart of the Samajwadi Party, was undergoing treatment in Singapore for the last six months. Amar Singh was among the close associates of Mulayam Singh Yadav, who headed the Samajwadi Party. He was currently a member of the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh, he was elected to the upper house in July 2016. His political journey began in 1996 with being elected a Rajya Sabha member. Rumors of his demise had cropped up in March, to which he responded and released the video saying that ‘Tiger is still alive’. In his familiar acquaintance by releasing the video, Amar Singh had said, “I am speaking Amar Singh from Singapore. I am sick, distressed but not intimidated (scared).
This was how entry into politics happened
It is said that Amar Singh met the then defense minister Mulayam Singh during a flight in 1996, after which he entered politics. Although, he had met Mulayam Singh earlier also, but only after that Mulayam Singh decided to make him the General Secretary of the party. Amar Singh, who was elected a member of the Rajya Sabha from the Samajwadi Party, was allegedly expelled from the Samajwadi Party following a family dispute.
It is said that Azam Khan and Akhilesh Yadav played a key role in his removal from the party. However, in the year 2010, Mulayam Singh also removed him from the party, after which he also retired from political life for some time. But in 2016, he again returned to the Samajwadi Party.
