Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday responded to the budget debate in the Rajya Sabha. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman termed the opposition’s allegations of cutting allocations for many sectors and states in the General Budget 2025-26. The baseless and said in the Rajya Sabha that various measures announced in the budget.
Sitharaman said that more than 90 members participated in the discussion on the general budget in the Upper House. She said that all the problems that the country is facing today have been taken into account in the budget.
He said that the interest burden due to the borrowings being taken by various states is a problem. He said that to overcome this, fiscal management with intelligence is an essential measure.
She said that in the budget, special attention has been given to four sections- poor, youth, farmers and women so that the entire economy can be strengthened. She said that these sections have been taken care of in all the schemes of the government so that they can get benefits.
He said that the effective capital expenditure in the financial year 2025-26 is likely to be Rs 19.80 lakh crore. He said that during the discussion some members had talked about reducing the budgetary allocation in various sectors.
