Srinagar, July 24:
The danger of flooding of rivers and streams due to rain in Jammu and Kashmir has not yet subsided. The Indian Meteorological Department (MET) has predicted that rain will continue in the state till Friday. The department has warned of heavy rain in many areas of Jammu division. The thundershowers at some places and has suggested to the common people to keep a distance from rivers and streams.
An advisory has also been issued for several districts including Jammu, Kathua, Rajouri, Reasi, Ramban, Udhampur and Poonch.
The department made it clear that due to the rain, there is still a danger of flash floods, landslides and rising water levels in rivers and drains.
Meteorological department officials said that this weather pattern has been maintained due to strong monsoon activities in the state
The department has issued a yellow to orange alert in sensitive districts and advised people to avoid traveling on landslide prone routes, especially on hilly routes including the Jammu-Srinagar highway.
