Jammu, February 14:
After the Pulwama attack, major changes were made regarding security in entire Kashmir. This is the reason that no incident like Pulwama has happened in six years. After the attack, changes have been made in the standard operating procedures (SOP). Civilian vehicles were allowed to move during the movement of the convoy of security forces, but now the movement of civilian vehicles is not allowed during the movement of security convoys.
Apart from this, there are 12 permanent security checkpoints on the highway. Bunkers are installed at every crossing and armoured vehicles are deployed on the link roads. Drones and UAVs are also being used for security and surveillance. Bomb disposal squads equipped with deep search metal detectors and dog squads are also deployed for round the clock surveillance.
The national highway in Kashmir passes through Kulgam, Anantnag and Pulwama districts of South Kashmir to connect Srinagar to Jammu. The highway is under 24-hour CCTV surveillance. If a civilian vehicle moves due to an emergency, information about the vehicle is immediately given to the checkpoints set up on the highway.
