In Poonch district, a search operation was conducted by security forces in Sanei Top of Surankot tehsil of Poonch, Basantgarh of Udhampur and other areas amid inclement weather on Friday. In the afternoon, the encounter between security forces and terrorists started in Sanei Top. It is being told that firing is taking place from both sides. Police, SOG, CRPF, Army personnel have cordoned off the area. The operation is ongoing.
The search operation started on Friday amidst changing weather conditions. Clouds also rained in Rajouri and Poonch areas. Meanwhile, police, army and CRPF personnel were busy searching for the terrorists. According to sources, after suspicious activity was seen in Sanei Top, some rounds were also fired by the security forces. However, news of firing from both sides came to light in the afternoon.
The hilly areas and forests of Basantgarh and Dudu are being searched by the security forces. But, no clue has been found yet. Police and top army officers are also present in the search operation. Every situation is being closely monitored. Many police officers are camping in the forests of Basantgarh.
Security forces have cordoned off the entire area and intensified the operation. The police has kept the intelligence department in Basantgarh on alert. SDPO Ramnagar Manjeet Singh said that the search operation is going on continuously and every nook and corner is being searched. Help of drones, helicopters, dog squad is being taken.
