Jammu, February 21:
A police constable died tragically after being hit by an e-bus. The accident took place on Thursday morning in the Gadigarh area of RS Pura-Jammu road. Constable Manpreet Singh posted in the Armed Police was a resident of Simbalmod of Miran Sahib, who was currently attached with the Udhampur ASP. The accident took place on Thursday while going to duty. According to the information, the constable was going towards Satwari on Thursday in plain clothes on a bike (JK02BD 3666). As soon as he reached the Gadigarh area, an e-bus coming from behind first hit him, after which the rear tire of the bus passed over his head, crushing it. A video of the accident has also been captured in CCTV. It shows how the said police constable came under the grip of the bus.
The constable was identified from the ID card found in his pocket. The police reached the spot and took the body to GMC. The constable was cremated with police honours late in the evening. However, the police have arrested the bus driver.
The bus has also been seized. Father died six months ago, brother died a few years ago.
20 years ago, Manpreet Singh’s elder brother also died in a road accident, while six months ago his father also died suddenly. The market at Symbol More also remained closed in mourning.
