Panzgam youth make it to agniveer recruitment exam

Srinagar, December 5:
The hard work of young boys has started showing results as they are a step closer to join Indian Army as Agniveer.
Total of 09 aspirants of Panzgam area have made it in written exam held on 13 November 2022.
Agniveer scheme was launched in January 2022 for the youth for joining armed forces which provides opportunity to serve for short span of four year along with a graduation degree. On termination of four year, they have financial support and experience to begin a second inning.
What make these candidates selection more special that they belong to areas which were known as hub of militants in early years of militancy in valley. *A young boy named Tanveer Ahmad Khoja who made it in exam is the resident of Dardpura village which is popularly known as Village of Widows*.
As the village had large group of locals who went across for training in early 90’s. Over the years they got killed or surrendered. This led to a huge number of widows in the village and subsequently village was named as Village of Widows. Tanveer’s dedication and persistence to become a Agniveer has made his entire village and family proud. All selected candidates expressed their gratitude for initiative taken by Hajipir Brigade Commander Trehgam to assist in the preparation for recruitment in which total of 92 aspirants were trained for the recruitment rally by Army camp Panzgam. 53 had cleared the physical and medical test held on 26-27 September 2022 in Pattan. Finally 09 have made in the final written test and will undergo the training.
For the preparation of exam, periodically screening tests were conducted including documentation and medical check up to avoid any rejection in the various round in the recruitment process. All aspirants were trainned for four months continuously in which daily physical training and written classes were conducted.
Participation of the Army and locals together to benefit the youth in clearing a stringent selection procedure shows a positive bond amongst the Army and society. All selected candidates thanked Army camp Panzgam and Hajipir Brigade commander for making them ready for the exam.
