As a part public delivery system at the doorstep of people and on the direction of Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of J&K, and subsequent directions issued by Administrative Secretary Social Welfare Department J&K, Director Social Welfare Department Jammu, a series of Panchayat/Block level assessment camps in collaboration with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) to identify Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in need of any kind of prosthetic aid was held across the District Kishtwar by Social Welfare Department Kishtwar under the guidance of District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Kumar Sharma and under the close supervision of District Social Welfare Officer Kishtwar Tariq Parveaz Qazi from 22-11-2021 to 04-12-2021.
In the said Assessment Camps held at Dachan, Padder, Drabshalla, Bunjwah, Trigam, Thakraie, Palmar, Kishtwar, Nagseni, Mughal Maidan & Chatroo which covered 117 Panchayats, a total of 539 number of Specially Abled Persons (Devyanjans) have been identified by the assessing teams from ALIMCO who will be provided with the prosthetic Aid & appliances like Tricycles, Wheel-Chairs, Hearing Aids, Crutches, Orthosis (Calippers), Prosthesis (Artificial Limbs) Sticks, Smart Cane free of cost at their doorsteps. The said aid/ appliances shall be provided to the identified persons within a period of 2/3 months.
However, the assessment camps at Block Marwah & Warwan, presently being snowbound, shall be organised as soon as the weather improves so that the Specially Abled Persons (Devyanjans) of these areas are also covered for providing the prosthetic aid and appliances whichever is required.
