On the occasion of World Environment Day, devotees who reached the holy city of Katra were given a special gift by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.
Officials here distributed free saplings to the devotees who reached here on Wednesday. Plants were also given in such a way that they could reach home safely with the devotees. These were also packed properly so that they could be planted in their courtyard or other places after going home. This information was given by Shrine Board CEO Anshul Garg.
He said that the Shrine Board organizes programs from time to time with the aim of making people aware about the environment. The Shrine Board has also established Vaishnavi Vatika for this. This time this new initiative was started to connect the devotees with its efforts. The plants grown in the Shrine Board’s nursery are being distributed among the devotees.
He told that the Shrine Board’s nursery has the capacity to grow 1.5 to 2 lakh plants. So far, plants have been planted by the Shrine Board at different places. Now devotees are being associated with this initiative. He said that this time the target is to deliver around 50 thousand plants to the devotees. This initiative will be taken forward after the response of the people. In the coming time, efforts will be made to set up such a counter in Jammu as well.
