JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla on Friday visited agitating NSUI students in JU after NSUI J&K President Sunny Parihar became unconscious during protest demanding online examination for BE semesters.
On this occasion, Parihar submitted memorandum to Bhalla saying that University of Jammu had earlier notified that all courses and semesters whose classes were conducted online, the papers for those courses would be held online as done earlier.
However, JU was now discriminating with selective courses and asking the BE students to appear in offline mode exams. Sunny Parihar appealed the Lt Governor to intervene into the matter and direct Vice Chancellor to fulfill the genuine demand of conducting online examination for all courses in JU Campus.
In a statement issued to mercury times, he further said that schedule for examination of Jammu University(JU),UGC & AICTE says that winter session exams should start in the month of December.
But the way in which engineering department of JU is functioning it is clear that our degree will get delay, If any required action couldn’t be taken by the administration now. Delay in a student’s degree could be worse blow to one’s career.
For example, if any student clear exam like CDS and if her/his degree gets delayed then he/she will not get recommended even after clearing the exam, and who will be responsible for that.
Bhalla patiently listen to their grievances and assured that their grievances will definitely be projected before concerned quarters for the timely mitigation of the same.
Meanwhile Bhalla speaking on the occasion appealed Indian government to reduce the air fares as students in Ukraine attempt to evacuate the conflict-stricken country.
He called upon the government to reduce the “hiked” air fares as they try to return to India amid rising tensions between Ukraine and Russia.Air India announced it would operate three ‘Vande Bharat Mission’ (VBM) flights between India and Ukraine on February 22, 24, and 26.
He claimed that flight tickets were for over Rs 1 lakh.In view of the continued high levels of tensions and uncertainties with respect to the situation in Ukraine, all Indian nationals whose stay is not deemed essential and all Indian students should be safely brought back to India Available commercial flights, and charter flights may be availed for travel, for orderly and timely departure, said Bhalla.
He said how economically weaker students can leave with such unaffordable prices of flights. The prices are unexpectedly high and out of reach for many students, and besides that they’ve to be back again.
With the United States warning that Russia, despite its statements, intends on invading Ukraine, those caught in the middle of the conflict are of course civilians – which include 20,000 Indian students, majority of whom are studying in medical colleges there.
Indian Medical students in Ukraine are in double pain.
One is fear of war is on mind on one side fear of losing crucial final year on other. Prices of commercial flights are so high that we cannot afford.”
The calls for reduction of fares and intervention with universities can be seen by looking at all the tweets tagged to the Indian embassy in Ukraine ,said Bhalla.
The students started seeking the government’s help in evacuation as early as February 15, as they also hit out saying the government not acting with the urgency it should have.
