Ladakh, May 18:
Campaigning for the elections to be held on May 20 for Ladakh parliamentary seat came to a halt on Saturday evening. On the last day of campaigning, all the candidates tried their best to win.
In Ladakh, BJP made full efforts to win the Lok Sabha seat for the third time through star campaigners. Kiren Rijiju and VK Singh had come to campaign in favor of BJP candidate Tashi Gyalson.
Chaudhary Vikram Randhawa, Sat Sharma, Ashok Kaul and some other local leaders from Jammu and Kashmir are still camping in Leh and Kargil. This shows how seriously BJP is taking this election. Whereas Congress campaigned with the help of local leaders. National level leader of Congress did not reach for campaigning. Not only this, no Congress leader from Jammu and Kashmir went to Ladakh for campaigning.
In Ladakh, there is a triangular contest between BJP’s Tashi Gyalson, Congress’ Tsering Namgyal and independent Haji Hanifa Jan. There are a total of 1,84,803 voters in this Lok Sabha constituency. The administration and the Election Commission have made full preparations for the elections.
Reaching the remote areas of Ladakh is not an easy task, but to make this festival of democracy successful, polling personnel were also transported by helicopter. Helicopter services have been taken in those areas where it is difficult to reach on foot. 577 polling stations have been set up in the entire parliamentary constituency.
On the last day of the campaign, the candidates sought the support of voters by holding public meetings and meetings. On Sunday, candidates cannot campaign openly but will seek support by campaigning door to door.
