National Sports Day celebrated at GDC Chatroo

Kishtwar, August 29:
In order to pay tribute to Major Dhyan Chand, the hockey legend of our country, the department of physical education and sports GDC Chatroo in collaboration with the NSS unit of the college organised different sports events on the occasion of National Sports Day.
The different competitions which started at 11 am in the morning started with an inaugural function wherein the chief organiser Dr Jaswant
Singh, physical education director of the college welcomed all the students and faculty members. He threw light on the history of National Sports Day and urged the students to participate and show exemplary discipline and sportsman spirit.
The different sports events included tug of war, carrom,  chess and other recreational sports competitions which were organised included sack race, lemon race, three leg race and throw ball.
The students participated with full zeal and enthusiasm and showed the highest degree of unity, comradeship and discipline.
Towards the end of the day, refreshment was served to all the students.
The day concluded with a prize distribution ceremony in which the winners and runners up of various games were awarded with medals.
In his presidential address Dr Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi Principal GDC Chatroo congratulated the students and faculty members of the college for the successful culmination of Sports Day. He further  expressed his satisfaction on the overall working of the college. In his message to the students Dr Rafiqi stressed upon them to participate in such programmes and pass on the message of communal harmony and peace to the society at large.
The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr Muddasser Nazar.
Other faculty members who were present on the occasion includes Dr Ashaq Hussain, Dr Jamsheed Ahmad, Prof Chander Parkash, Prof Ajeet Kumar, Dr JV Manhas, Dr Sajad Ahmed, Dr Syed Jamsheed and Mr Mudasir Butt.
