National Conference received Rs 50 lakh from electoral bonds, the only regional party in the state to receive donations from it

Jammu, March 18:

The National Conference (NC) is the only regional party in J&K to have received electoral bonds through the now defunct electoral bond scheme. The Election Commission has released new information on funds received by political parties through the electoral bond scheme.

Election Commission had submitted the said information to the Supreme Court in a sealed cover without retaining the copies.
After the physical copies were returned by the Supreme Court registry, the Election Commission has uploaded the data on its website. The data revealed that NC received Rs 50 lakh through these bonds from Bharti Group on April 29, 2019.

The new data released by the Election Commission today shows the bond issue date, denomination of the fund, number of bonds and the issuing State Bank of India (SBI) branch. It also includes the dates of receipt and credit to the parties’ bank accounts.
However, it did not include electoral bond numbers, which link donors to recipients. However, some parties have listed their donors in the data submitted to the Election Commission.
