The Anantnag police achieved a major success on Tuesday.The police arrested a notorious and most wanted female drug peddler with narcotics.
According to the police, a naka party of Police Post Dialgam had set up a point for routine checking at Lalan Bypass.
During the checking, the police suspected a woman coming towards Lalan from Bondyalgam. When the woman tried to flee on seeing the police.
The alert Naka team acted promptly and prudently and arrested her on the spot.
On searching the woman, a narcotic substance was recovered from her.
On interrogation, she has been identified as Shagufta Akhtar of Dangerpora, Anantnag.
The police have registered a case at the concerned police station.
Officials said that the arrested woman is a notorious drug peddler. She has already been involved in several NDPS cases.
Her arrest is being considered as a major breakthrough in the ongoing campaign to curb the growing menace of drugs in the district.
