Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh was warmly welcomed by BJP workers at Jammu airport on Friday. The BJP workers danced to the beat of the drum. BJP has declared Dr. Jitendra Singh as its candidate from Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat. Dr. Jitendra Singh will contest from this seat to win for the third time.
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh has performed brilliantly in the previous Lok Sabha elections of 2014 and 2019. In the year 2014, Dr. Jitendra Singh had defeated the current Jammu and Kashmir’s former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Udhampur seat. Dr. Jitendra Singh got 487,369 votes. Whereas, Ghulam Nabi Azad had got 4,26,393. At that time Ghulam Nabi Azad was the Congress candidate. Now Ghulam Nabi has separated from Congress and has formed his own party, whose name is Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP).
In 2019 also, Dr. Jitendra Singh hoisted the BJP flag on Udhampur seat. This time his nearest rival was Congress candidate Vikram Aditya Singh. Dr Jitendra Singh had secured 724311 votes, while his counterpart Vikramaditya Singh had secured 367059 votes. Both the times, mainly Congress has given competition to BJP. In 2019, Chaudhary Lal Singh, after breaking away from BJP, had contested elections from this seat. He got 19,049 votes.
