Jammu, November 20:
Announcing the granting of industry status to transport and logistics, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that Logistics Policy 2025 is being implemented in J&K soon. This sector will also be given the status of industry so that this sector can also get government support on the lines of industry.
Sinha said the new policy will focus on multimodal connectivity, the development of dry ports and warehousing zones. He said the logistics sector will be granted industry status, ensuring it receives all the benefits of the industrial policy.
Addressing the inaugural function of a day-long seminar on Trade and Logistics organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce on Thursday.
The Lieutenant Governor said that Jammu is rapidly emerging as a trade and logistics hub. It is connecting Ladakh and the Kashmir Valley with the country’s business world.
He said that the Kashmir Valley is now connected by rail.
It used to take up to ten hours to reach Srinagar from Jammu. Today the journey takes five to six hours. With the completion of the expressway, the time will be reduced further.
All the demonstrates how transport and logistics have been strengthened in Jammu and Kashmir, Sinha said.
