Srinagar, September 30:
Geetanjali Angmo, wife of environmental activist Soman Wangchuk, posted two photos on her social media account on Monday. The first photo shows Prime Minister Narendra Modi standing with Bangladesh’s advisor Mohammad Yunus. The second photo shows Soman Wangchuk with Yunus.
Along with this photo, Geetanjali posted, “If PM Modi can meet Yunus, what’s the problem with Sonam Wangchuk meeting him?” Wangchuk’s wife posted this photo in response to questions from social media users. Social media trolls are claiming that Sonam Wangchuk has conspired to overthrow the Bangladesh government.
It should be noted that the photo posted by Gitanjali of Wangchuk with Yunus is from 2020. In August 2024, Hasina was forced to step down due to student protests. Yunus was subsequently appointed as Bangladesh’s advisor. Meanwhile, the photo of Prime Minister Modi and Yunus is from April 2025. The Prime Ministers met during a summit in Bangkok.
Similarly, in a post on X on Sunday, Geetanjali questioned why Wangchuk was being questioned for a UN event if India could play cricket with Pakistan.
