Last Morh’ Gandhinagar Jammu should be named after Duggar poet Yash Sharma

Jammu, April 15:
Today, a Jammu citizens’ delegation led by Mahant Rohit Shastri, head of Shri Kailakh Jyotish avum Vedic SansthanTrust, met the Mayor,Jammu, Chandra Mohan Gupta and presented a memorandum on behalf of the citizens’ expressing their desire to name the Last Morh of Gandhi Nagar after the renowned Dogri poet Yash Sharma who lived in the lane for over four decades.
In a statement issued to mercury times, naming the Last Morh Gandh Nagar after the legendary poet, broadcaster, actor, and playwright Yash Sharma will be a true homage of the citizens who have been listening to his songs sung by the galaxy of Dogra singers led by his illustrious daughter Seema Anil Sehgal, reads the memorandum. The delegation dwelled on the meritorious achievements of the late poet who was named “Albeka Geetkaar” and “Geeton Ka Rajkumar” by the teeming Dogras of Jammu and the adjoining areas of Himachal.
“His songs speak of the sufferings of the masses, especially, the womenfolk of the Duggar villages, and beauty of the Jammu region in the same breath,” reads the memorandum.
The coveted Sahitya Akademi Award was conferred on this poet of the Dogra masses, by the Indian academy of literature, for Yash Sharma’s sterling contribution to the Dogri literature.
The citizens’ delegation included Seema Anil Sehgal, Jagdish Singh Manhas, Chairman Morning Walkers Association High Court Manda, Prabodh Sharma, Romesh Gupta, Sanjay Chaudhary, Ashwani Kumar Kapoor, Shekhar Sharma, among others.
