Srinagar, December 29:
Ladakh, one of the most environmentally sensitive regions of India, has taken a decisive step by adopting a clean and green transport system.
The UT administration started electric bus services in the year 2023. After successful trials, five hydrogen fuel cell buses were launched for commercial operation in Leh in June this year.
This initiative marks India’s first commercial deployment of hydrogen powered buses for public transport on the high Himalayan routes.
Setting a new standard for clean transportation in challenging geographical conditions. These buses were handed over to the State Industrial Development Corporation on behalf of the National Thermal Power Corporation Limited.
Adding another significant link to this achievement, the world’s highest hydrogen fueling station at Leh was launched by Thermal Power Corporation Limited in November last year. The station is located at an altitude of 11,562 feet above sea level.
