Jammu, February 22:
The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has launched a major anti-encroachment drive in Gangyal.
During the drive, the corporation team strictly removed the illegal encroachments on the main roads and footpaths of the area.
The team demolished sheds, stands, stairs and other structures built by shopkeepers and street vendors with the help of JCB machines.
During the drive, illegal pavement stalls, street vendors and other temporary shops were also completely removed.
The team appealed to the shopkeepers and street vendors to keep their goods within the boundary line of the shop. Officials clarified that due to encroachment, motorists face a lot of difficulty in commuting. Even the pedestrians also face difficulty in walking safely. It also increases the risk of traffic jams and accidents.
The corporation team warned that such campaigns will continue regularly in the future as well. He advised all shopkeepers and small traders to follow the rules to avoid action to remove encroachments. Street vendors were also appealed not to illegally occupy space on the road or footpath and to do business only at designated places.
