The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has ordered the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) to re-interview a candidate. The candidate had participated in a competitive examination conducted by the commission. The candidate was declared passed in the preliminary examination, but failed in the mains. Due to this, the candidate could not appear in the interview. After the interview, the candidate was shown absent in the interview in the list released by the commission and was excluded from the selection process.
Devyani Suri, a resident of Gangyal area of ​​​​Jammu city, had filed an application in CAT seeking to get herself interviewed for the Jammu and Kashmir Combined Competitive Examination, 2023 and to reserve a post for herself. Devyani told CAT that she applied for the exam after the notification was issued on April 13, 2023.
After this, the commission declared her passed in the preliminary examination and failed in the mains. After this, she assumed that she was out of the selection process. A few days later, the commission released a list. In this, the candidates who passed the interview were called for medical examination. Along with this list, another list was released, in which the applicant (Devyani) was shown absent in the interview process.
While giving the verdict, CAT’s judicial member Rajinder Singh Dogra said that the applicant is not at fault in this case, so his career cannot be put at risk. Along with this, CAT has ordered JKPSC to interview the applicant again and suggest his name for appointment if he passes the interview. CAT has directed to complete the entire process within eight weeks.
