Srinagar, February 22:
The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway which was closed due to snowfall was restored at 8 am on Friday after 14 hours. There is a huge traffic jam in many areas between Ramban and Banihal. After snowfall, Sadhna Pass and Rajdhan Pass routes of Kashmir have been closed for traffic as a precautionary measure. Sinthan Pass and Mughal Road connecting District Rajori and Poonch to Shopian are also closed. Gulmarg was colder than Leh on Thursday night.
According to the Meteorological Center Srinagar, there may be rain and snowfall again in the state from 25 to 28 February. Heavy rain is expected in some parts of both the divisions. Tourists, passengers and transporters have been advised to plan their travel as per the advisory of the administration and traffic department. Many plains and hilly areas in Kashmir witnessed snowfall overnight on Thursday.
Many connecting roads have been affected. Tourist places like Gulmarg, Sonamarg and Pahalgam also received fresh snowfall overnight. This has brought smiles on the faces of tourists. Srinagar received intermittent rains throughout Thursday night. The rain has brought relief to people and farmers from the long dry weather.
