Jammu, February 25:
Jammu and Kashmir Police is strengthening its intelligence system. At the district level, SSPs are sending personnel having ground level knowledge to the field. So far, more than 200 personnel have been deployed in such areas where intelligence system is needed the most.
These areas are the areas where terrorists are present. Crime and drug trafficking are increasing in these areas. An attempt has also been made to include old people who helped the police in eradicating terrorism and crime in 1990, so that the police keeps getting information about the areas.
In the 90s, the local network helped the police a lot in eliminating terrorism from Rajori-Poonch, Doda, Kishtwar Ramban, Udhampur and Kathua. According to sources, the police has asked constables to activate ASI level officers in these areas and increase coordination with the old people. They have been asked to collect information immediately and share it with senior officers, so that complete information can be obtained from terrorists to drug smugglers and criminals. Keeping this in mind, policemen are being transferred from one place to another at the district level.
The police department is deploying knowledgeable officers at the police station, outpost and subdivision level. The recent transfer of 157 DSPs was also a part of this. At the district level, police station incharges and outpost officers are also being changed. Especially in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Kishtwar, Ramban districts, many officers have been deployed in knowledge areas. Officers have been specifically told to prepare a team with them that brings intelligence inputs for them.
