Jammu, September 14:
Tight security arrangements have been made for the first phase of the assembly elections in J&K after ten years. In the first phase, voting is to be held on 18 September on 24 seats. An average of 2 to 3 thousand security personnel have been deployed on each seat. For the first time, armed police forces of various states of the country have also been deployed for security. To ensure that there is no disruption in security, preparations have been made to conduct elections with three times the strength. About 50 thousand security personnel have been deployed on election duty. This includes paramilitary forces and Jammu Kashmir Police personnel. Security forces have been given modern weapons while on duty.
In the first phase, voting is to be held on 24 seats in 7 districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
