Jammu, August 25:
After three decades, flood-like conditions were witnessed in the Jammu. Ranbir canal overflowed and water entered the houses through the roads on both sides. This caused massive destruction in many areas.
The heavy rain did not give anyone a chance to recover. By the time people woke up, three to five feet of water had accumulated.
SDRF personnel had to be deployed in some areas. When the drains got clogged, the Municipal Corporation had to rush in the workers along with JCB and other resources. The situation became worse due to the garbage stuck in the drains. In view of the orange alert in the next 48 hours, a cleaning campaign was carried out in the drains of the city throughout the day so that the situation like Sunday does not arise. Rescue operations continued throughout the day in many affected areas.
Heavy rains wreaked havoc in rural areas along with the city. Roads along with fields and barns remained submerged. Power supply remained affected throughout the day in many areas.
