Jammu, October 5:
Assembly elections have been completed. As much as there is eagerness to wait for the results.
There is equal interest in knowing who will be the Chief Minister. The reason is that all political parties had entered the fray without a CM face.
Even the National Conference and PDP did not declare their CM faces. Even though many of their leaders have been CMs in the past. The BJP was also in the fray without a face. If the alliance wins, then the name of NC vice-president Omar Abdullah is likely to come forward as the CM face.
Perhaps this was the objective behind persuading him to contest the assembly elections. If BJP comes to power, who will be the face? This question remains in everyone’s mind. From BJP’s side, the names of Ravindra Raina and Union Minister Jitendra Singh are echoing in the political corridors.
If the BJP gets the majority figure, then it is possible that like other states, it may bring forth a surprising name here too. On the basis of its performance in the last few elections, the BJP is assuring that it will touch the majority figure.
Political pundits are not ready to accept this. They say that the question is that if BJP is unable to reach the majority mark, then with whom will it form an alliance. If it forms an alliance, then it is obvious that it may have to agree to the ally’s demand. In such a situation, the party may have to think afresh on the CM face.
All these possibilities still remain. However, BJP fielded Ravindra Raina in the elections and in the meantime appointed an acting president. This move of BJP was in discussion because till now the party had not used an acting president in any state in the middle of elections.
Now the posts coming from politicians on social media indicate that the efforts towards forming the government have already begun. Two posts related to this came out on Thursday and Friday.
