Jammu, January 14:
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday hoisted a 108-feet high national flag and inaugurated a heritage museum at Akhnoor border area in Jammu. He also attended the 9th Armed Forces Veterans Day event held at Tanda Artillery Brigade.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that in the past, Jammu and Kashmir was treated differently by previous governments, as a result of which the people of the region were not able to connect with Delhi the way they should have. I do not want to go into the past because the biggest achievement of our government is that we are working to bridge the distance between hearts and minds of Kashmir and the rest of the country.
He praised Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and said that he has taken the right steps to reduce the distance between the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Delhi. He also said that the BJP government looks at Delhi and Kashmir equally. Singh made this statement during the 9th Armed Forces Veterans Day Rally held at Tanda Artillery Brigade.
He strongly condemned the anti-India statement of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq and said that Jammu and Kashmir is incomplete without POK. Singh also wished Makar Sankranti and New Year to the veterans and said that their presence in Akhnoor shows that we consider Akhnoor and Jammu and Kashmir as dear to our hearts as Delhi.
