Kathua, May 26:
The restoration work of Railway Bridge No. 17 located on the Kathua-Madhopur rail section has now reached the final stage. Indian Railways has informed that the interlocking work will be completed by 31 May 2026. After which both up and down railway lines on this route will be fully operational from June.
Due to the repair of the bridge, rail operations were being done only on the up line for some time, due to which many trains had to be canceled and passengers had to face problems. Now after both the tracks are operational, rail traffic will be smooth and fast again.
According to railway officials, engineers have worked day and night to make the bridge stronger than ever despite technical challenges. This restoration will provide great relief to the passengers going to Jammu, Katra and Mata Vaishno Devi. It will also facilitate freight movement, trade activities and military logistics operations.
