Srinagar, July 13:
The Economic Offences Wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested an accused wanted in several cases of cheating and forgery.
The accused was out of police custody for a long time and was facing action in various cases.
According to the police, the arrested accused has been identified as Abdul Majeed Mir. An arrest warrant was issued against him by the court of the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar. It is in a cheating and cheating case registered against him in 2015.
After the completion of the investigation, the police had also filed a charge sheet in the court in this case. Despite this, the accused was absconding for a long time.
A spokesman of the Economic Offences Wing said Abdul Majeed Mir is a habitual offender. A total of 11 cases of cheating, forging documents and using fake employment certificates were registered against him in various districts of Kashmir.
After receiving credible information, the Economic Offences Wing team took action and arrested the accused. He was produced before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody. Police said further investigation into the case is underway and other cases involving the accused are also being investigated.
