The Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) held a special meeting of its central working committee on today the 7th of August 2020 at Sabha Bawan Dogra Hall Jammu. In the meeting convened by the DSS president Th. Gulchain Singh Charak under strict observance of the social distancing norms and other COVID-19 precautions reviewed the one year functioning of the Union Territory government in light of the public aspirations and the government deliverance on various issues and welcomed the newly posted Lt. Governor.
The Dogra Sadar Sabha welcomed Shri Manoj Sinha to this crown region of the country. With his high profile academics, down to earth humility, unflinching sincere sense of purpose and reputation of unbiased result oriented development retaining a connection with common man, the members have placed great hopes and expectations in him for the future of J&K.
The DSS has always remained in the forefront to assist the challenging task before the government that marked a turn of history for this region, 5 Aug 2019 onward. However the members felt that the grass root connection during the post Article 370 governance and the people could not be founded. Wide gaps prevailed between the assurances/ implementation as much as public aspirations/ government deliverance. Maybe the old and new bureaucratic cultures remained at cross purposes leaving the common man at large, much to desire.
The rampant corruption, discrimination, functional apathy towards people continued as hither to. The colossal stand still on the resolutions and projects with their implementations and repeated roll back of orders leading to public mistrust and frustration tell the tale. They pointed out glaring examples of the see-saw orders concerning appointments in J&K bank, denial of reservation of ex-servicemen quota in appointments, the confusion over domicile related orders and finally its pathetic people unfriendly implementation, faux pas on appointing chairman of the Public Service Commission, proposal of packing up DD Jammu against popular pending demand of a full time Duggar Channel, proper functioning of the Radio Station Jammu are just a few glaring examples of the continued hegemony. The hardships faced by Rehbare-khel & Rehbare Taleem are causing grave misery but not cared for. The onslaught of Toll Plazas in Jammu region and non availability of 4G Internet in the UT has increased the sufferings of the people financially as well as denial of opportunities to the youths in the ongoing COVID-19 environment. The DSS also demands restoration of statehood to the erstwhile State of J&K, as promised by the Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi ji. Various other safeguards for ensuring the regional and cultural identity of locals, land, culture & heritage of the State Subjects. Numerous representations by the DSS to ensure care and maintenance of Mubarak Mandi, have also fallen on deaf ears of the authorities as no steps have been taken by the Government in this regard. A number of resolutions by the DSS in the past have demanded opening of the blocked portion of the road in front of the secretariat. Rather than opening the same, it has now been denied to the public for the whole year. The DSS urges the authorities to mitigate the hardships to the public on an urgent basis, failing which the public will have no option but to come on the roads for protection.
The DSS demands initiation of the census followed by the delimitation to set in motion the much needed political process.
