Jammu, January 22:
Ten Army personnel were killed and 11 others injured in a road accident in Doda district, police said on Saturday.
The accident took place near Khanni Top on the Bhaderwah-Chamba road.
Local officials said the Army team had left for an operational duty on Thursday morning.
At the same time, the vehicle lost control and fell into a deep ditch about 400 meters near Khannitop.
As soon as the accident was reported, teams of the army, police and local administration reached the spot. The rescue operation was started.
Officials said that 10 soldiers lost their lives on the spot and 11 soldiers were found injured. The injured were first taken to the sub-district hospital Bhaderwah.
In view of his critical condition, the injured has been airlifted to the Army’s Command Hospital in Udhampur for specialised treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Joban Jeet, Sudher Narwal, Monu, Mohit, HR Kanwar, Simran, P Lora, Sulinder, Ajay Lofra and Swarn Nag Pal.
The injured jawans have been identified as Sahil, JP Singh, Neeraj, Anoop, Nagis, Aman, Shankar, Sandeep, Jobanpreet, Rakesh and Abhimanyu. All the injured are undergoing treatment and their condition is being monitored.
