Srinagar, May 9:
Residents of Ganderbal have expressed serious concern over the increasing spread of white and cotton-like fur emanating from seasonal trees.
They allege that these airborne particles are causing allergies, breathing problems and other health problems in the entire district.
According to locals, these cotton-dropping trees, found on roadsides, residential areas have become a major nuisance in the current season.
People said that these furs are spreading rapidly through the wind and entering homes and other places. It makes everyday life difficult for many residents.
It is being told that elderly citizens, children and patients suffering from asthma and respiratory diseases are the most affected.
Residents said the problem is not limited to Ganderbal but similar complaints are also coming from different parts of the Kashmir Valley.
Locals have appealed to the concerned departments and municipal authorities to take immediate precautionary measures.
Meanwhile, health experts have advised people, especially children, elderly citizens and allergy patients, not to venture out unnecessarily.
