Jammu, August 16:
Cloudburst and landslide in Chishoti village of Kishtwar caused massive destruction, killing 60 people and injuring more than 120. The video that has emerged shows the horrific images of the devastation. The relief and rescue operations are still underway.
Many people are still feared to be trapped under the debris. Rescue work is being hampered due to bad weather.
On Thursday, between 12 noon and 1 pm, rain wreaked havoc in Chishoti.
A langar (community kitchen) set up for the devotees in Chishoti suffered the most damage due to the cloudburst.
Stones and trees came floating with the water and swept away houses, shops and pilgrims.
A security post was also washed away. The flow of water in many drains of Pader has become very fast. There was a flood due to heavy rainfall.
