New Delhi, February 9:
After registering victory in Delhi after 26 years, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday sought time to meet the Lieutenant Governor. BJP state president Virendra Sachdeva has written a letter to LG Vinay Saxena seeking time to meet him with his new 48 MLAs and seven MPs.
Sachdeva has written in his letter, ‘I, the BJP MP of Delhi and our newly elected 48 MLAs want to meet you as soon as possible. Please give time as soon as possible as per your convenience.’
BJP has returned to power in Delhi after 26 years. In the assembly elections held on 5 February. BJP registered a big victory in Delhi by defeating Aam Aadmi Party. Whereas in Delhi which has 70 assembly seats, AAP could save only 28 seats.
The swearing-in ceremony will be held after PM Modi returns from his foreign tour.
Discussions have intensified in the party about the new Chief Minister of Delhi. The names of many senior leaders who won the elections are being speculated. Pravesh Verma, son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, has emerged victorious by a huge margin by defeating AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal.
